While born a corporate SINner, WATANABE Nobutoshi is the child of a single mother. Rumors about the father swirled around him throughout his childhood, but his mother's position as the personal secretary of a high-level executive insulated her from any repercussions.

Nobutoshi did not have things as easy. Children are often mean to those who are not like them, and with the importance of family in Japanese society, Tosh was always seen as different. His mother refused to speak of his father, and that stigma lead to a lonely childhood, with very few friends. He spent most of his time alone, honing his matrix skills, both as a programmer and a gamer.

That had little impact on his education and career, though. Opportunities for advancement were all but dropped in his lap all through his life. Money and other anonymous gifts appeared on holidays and alongside other events of significance.

The most recent largesse of unknown was a job offer to join the semi-autonomous knowbot and artificial intelligence research team in the SCIRE under Dr. Cliber. Tosh's skillset certainly qualifies him for a position, but it was not an assignment he put in for... and certainly one he wouldn't have accepted had he any idea what would happen a few days after his arrival in Seattle.
