deepColour comes from a working-class, single parent home. Originally from Renton, his mom worked long hours and could still only afford to live in a rough neighborhood, leaving him lots of unsupervised free time to pal around with local hoodlums. Naturally bright, he was accepted into their circle because he could fix stuff and do simple hacks; in return, they offered him a clique for protection and taught him how to live on the streets.
While his neighborhood certainly wasn't the Puyallup Barrens or anything, it had its share of Big City dangers, mainly larger, more dangerous gangs carrying out the will of whichever yakuza oyabun was in charge. Not that deepColour ever saw any of that, his highest-level interactions were with drug dealers on the corner and the occasional made man coming by weekly to collect his three points on the dealer's action. People got roughed up and sometimes shot, but for the most part you could get by if you kept your head down.
