Mukami Hyland was born in the Ethiomalian Territories, though her father was a Wakayambi from Azania and her mother was European. Unknown to Mukami, her mother was one of the earliest shadowrunners. Ethomalia is home to a high-end, non-megacorporate-owned cyberclinics. Her mother was receiving treatments for complications due to the combination of her extensive cybernetic enhancements and the pregnancy. It was only partially successful, as evidenced by Mukami's survival but her mother's death soon after her birth.
