John Smith was born in Bear, DE, USA. An average student with no outstanding skills, John did not stand out as a child. It was not until high school that he discovered a passion for acting, which lead him to majoring in Drama at the University of Delaware. His studies in performances art, in throwing himself into a part, lead to his Awakening. He developed abilities that allowed him to adjust his voice, duplicate mannerisms, and even alter his physical features.
In his senior year, John was recruited by the FBI with an appealing to his sense of patriotism and putting his special talents to work protecting people. Under FBI tutelage he developed his suite of abilities, turning him into a superlative undercover agent. During his time at Quantico, he also married his high school sweetheart, Emily Rodney. They eventually had two children: Caesar and Anne. After graduation, he worked out of the DeeCee field office, albeit mostly on paper. His adept abilities made him quite appealing to a number of different operations.
A major turning point in his career was being tapped to infiltrate the Universal Brotherhood in 2054. During the investigation, his partner was invested with an insect spirit. When he discovered the subterfuge, he was forced to defend himself and killed his partner. Though eventually declared a good shoot, John fell out of favor with the DeeCee field office and he was reassigned to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Emily and his children initially remained in Maryland, as Visionary Design Works (her employer, a subsidiary of Novatech) did not have any offices in that part of the UCAS. The distance replaced the frequent absences due to his undercover work, and combined with her career trajectory lead her to realize they had been effectively separated for years. When she earned a promotion that would take her to Seattle, she filed for divorce and took the offer.
Eventually becoming disillusioned with exile to Manitoba, John began moonlighting as a shadowrunner. As his shadowcareer took off, he left the Bureau and began to travel around North America where better jobs could be found. Eventually, he landed in Seattle, the shadowrunning capital of the northern hemisphere, working under the name Garbo.
Smith Children
Caesar, Age 11
Named after a distant ancestor on his mother's side, Caesar is an above average student in terms of intelligence. He does suffer from poor language skills development which has made him a bit of an outcast socially. He also has poor motor skills, but is undergoing VR therapy to rectify the condition. He has mother's dark eyes and dark hair, with curls neither of his parents possess.
Anne, Age 8
Though Caesar's intelligence makes him creative, Anne takes both to another level, often making choices and decisions that deliberately run counter to her peers and show decision making well above her age group. She's a very self-possessed child, seemingly unaffected by her family's troubles. She has the same blonde hair her father grew up with, which means it's likely to darken as she grows older, but her mother's dark eyes.
